Festival Diaries: Distortion Copenhagen 2016, Day 2
Goodbye for now Copenhagen… this weekend was a dream!
Saturday started off a bit fatigued, probably a combination of going to bed at 6am, and being under the sun for the first time in several weeks (it’s still raining in Paris…).
H- and I got lunch at the Food Market with the Airbnb crew. We then made our way to Freetown Christiania, which was actually very cool, not at all self-important or superior, as I might have been expecting. It really does feel like people just living together peacefully, building together, creating art, enjoying their space and themselves. The No Photos policy probably did do a lot of good in adding to the enjoy- the- moment, be-happy vibe, and helped to prevent an atmosphere of forced appearances.
It was a really great place to meet some people, relax under the sun, and just breathe and be.
After, we went home and I promptly took a 2 hour nap; then it was up for Distortion 0 Day 2.
We had an amazing night that ended with the sunrise around 4:30am, and it was bright out by the time we arrived back in Fredericksburg.
Sunday, I somehow managed to wake myself up before noon. We made the amazing decision of getting Go-bikes to ride around the city - I completely understand why Copenhagen is so swarming with bicycles! It really is the best way to get around- I couldn’t have asked for a better day! Lunch in Norresboro, ice cream along the canals, sunning by the lake at Freetown.
Now it’s 9pm, and I’m waiting for the plane to board back to Paris. CPH doesn’t seem to have free wifi…. ? So stay tuned.
All the love,
